My CV 15 is great on my 5N, certainly good enough to sell 16x24" landscapes.
Ignoring the 5mp resolution difference, its as nice as my cherry picked Tokina 16-28 was on my 5D 2. And at 21mm that resolves better than the ZE 21 at photozone on the 5D 2 at F4 on (Impossible! *the crowd gasps*)
Anyway, its certainly good enough if you know what you are doing and its... 150 grams.
But of course, different strokes for different folks and all that.

I am supposed to get my Zeiss 24 f:1.8 next week. Based on my findings so far, I may well say farewell to my 5D II altogether in favor of 2 NEX bodies, or maybe keep it only for those exceptional lenses which would have no NEX equivalent like ZE 35 f:1.4, and maybe the forthcoming 25 f:2.0, also mooted for late November availability.
All the more so as NEX 7 may well prove the naysayers wrong. The respected French mag "Chasseur d'Images" gave it a glowing review, calling the sensor "the best APS-C sensor presently on the market". And, yes, they tested high ISO performance, and found that it was clean until ISO 1600, which is enough for my requirements, as it is also where I peg my 5D II.

Ulrik; how long are you in Stockholm? I don't have any work cut out for Friday and will probably be in town.
Unfortunately I just flew in for a meeting and had the afternoon off and flew out again in the evening. I'll most likely have more meetings the coming spring, so I would love to coordinate plans

The 5N is extremely tempting but the lack of any off-camera flash abilities really kills it for me. I ended up with a Lumix G3 for traveling light. The sensor isn't quite as nice but it feels like more of a "real" camera and is much cheaper when you figure in the fact that it already has an EVF built in. I also like the fact that I can use the tilt/swivel screen at waist level in portrait mode as well.
Any word on an adapter to turn the 5N accessory port into a proper hot-shoe or at least PC-sync?

I'm also thinking about the similar switch (from 1D mark II N to NEX-7 probably), as it's becoming stupid to keep the 1D and heavy lenses (L and Sigma) when I'm firmly outta the pro/semipro circles and only really do photography when travelling. However, the lack of a good AF wideangle is what keeps me from doing it. Short of adapted (via the LA-EA2 which adds a lot of bulk and cost) Sigma UWAs, there isn't really a compelling option, nor really a good telephoto, and shooting with just the 24mm and 50mm f/1.8 primes doesn't really attract me.

I guess it depends where you are coming from. If you are commited to the Nex platform right now it does things no other lens can do.
If you are comparing it to full frame, well there is a can of worms with lots of gives and takes. But I certainly wish we had a biggger sensor.
For me there is no use comparing to FF because they are either too expensive, or way too big. For now.
There are plenty of 50/1.2 lenses for ff that aren't a lot bigger than the 35/1.2 and they outperform it. And it has already been discussed, the cheap and light 50/1.8-2 lenses give about the same effective focal length and aperture on FF.

The aperture doesn't change, the same shutter speed is possible regardless of the sensor size. What you get regarding noise is a different question but there's no single and unambiguous answer.

i'm sure a fair number out perform it on the NEX doing a FF to 1.5x crop comparison, but do any outperform it on the m9? my impression was that the 35/1.2 is a better lens than the vast majority of ~50/1.2 lenses.

Ok, I just received Fotodiox adapter for my Zeiss 100/2 ZE lens and wow, this lens shines on the Nex-5N sensor. I can only shoot wide open, but I think this convinces me that the Sony sensor is truly great - I may have to get ZF version of the lens to control the aperture. I'll post some photos later. Right now I am not able to tell a difference between 5D II and Nex-5N with this lens. Amazing. Tomorrow I should receive Zeiss Biogon 35/2 ZM and have high hopes that it delivers. It is amazing what quality you can get from this camera with high-end lenses. The kit 18-55 lens is not doing the 5N sensor any justice.

Snopchenko, you don't need AF on a lens like the ZM 18 on the NEX. I have so much DOF that I just set aperture at f:5.6, and set focus anywhere between 3m and infinity, and everything is sharp. Did you see my 100% crop showing how much detail I get out of that lens with my 5N? And the 7 should give even more detail...

The 7 will also have the magenta color shift with the 18.

Unless I am mistaken I am pretty sure you can change the aperture although it is a PITA. Just change the aperture to whatever you want it at while it is on the Canon body then turn the camera off. Place the lens on the Nex and it should still be at that aperture unless I am mistaken.

You're right, I read that somewhere as well. Problem is I no longer have a Canon body
