I would like to start producing giclee's for fellow artists from their work, both 2 and 3 dimensional. I will be using strobe and will need modeling lights. Any recommendations.
How big are the pieces of art you will be copying? If they are small, then a couple of Alien Bee 800s might be enough. If you are reproducing wall size originals then you'll need more for coverage.
PS. "Giclee" is just a snooty term for ink jet prints, and carries no cachet in the photographic community these days. It might still be a valid term in the "art" world, but in photo circles, the term lost credibility and meaning a decade ago.
I suggest you buy and study the book "Light - Science & Magic" to learn how to control shadow and reflection before you invest in any equipment. Especially if you have never done this kind of work before.
