p.1 #1 · Chimera Speedring and Einstein

In my research to decide which monolight I will purchase, I see that one needs a Chimera Speedring to mount any Chimera modifier to the Balcar mount. The 2520QR (Quick Release) speedring from Chimera is about $80 and a few folks have said that the QR levers do not always lock fully. The non QR is about $45 and I wonder if that model would present less problems at the cost of speed of modifier switchouts.

My plan is just to use the speedring for mounting a Chimera strip softbox (about 9 x 36) with grids.

Comments from anybody that uses the Chimera Speedrings is appreciated.

I use the $30 speedrings from PCB with all of my Chimera softboxes. I haven't had any issues when used with my Einsteins.
