What was the length of lens, shutter speed and amount of cropping you did afterwards?
You nailed everything else though, great timing with the glints of light.
As to saturation, that's a function of so many things when we're looking at pictures on the internet. It probably looks great on your screen, and pretty good on mine here.
Sharpen>Smart Sharpen>Remove>Motion Blur
It got me about 70% where I took it ... S&P to taste with more routine sharpening strategies and a touch of blur to the black channel to try and control the halo's that came along for the ride.
