Not trying to discredit this product, but I do not see the manufacture numbers there.
I checked all my lenses, and sure enough, they are all marked.
The photo above supplied does not show the numbers...
Just saying.

Call me stupid.. but, I thought lenses had the numbers stamped in the end that goes in the camera that shows manufacture information..
stupid. newer 70-200mk2's do not come with date codes: only serial numbers. (coming from an owner of a 70-200mk2)

I was wondering about that as I composed the post..
Was just saying as people were worried about this sale with no receipt.
Was not saying anything one way or another..
lol
Still, would trade my ole lady for it!
A “brand new" lens always comes with a receipt, US warranty card.
The Canon mfg warranty IS transferable, to whoever that holds a copy of the sales receipt from a US AUTHORIZED dealer. US warranty card is NOT very important but will HELP if needed.
It's being so partially on purpose just as the OP has proposed: what if the lens is a GIFT? yes, a GIFT of CANON LENS HAS WARRANTY indeed.
A new lens without a authorized dealer's receipt is WORSE than a grey market lens. The good old Canon provides mfg warranty even to grey market lens as long as you provide them a US authorized dealer's receipt and its original warranty card from whichever country.
While I do question whether it's good to claim that the lens is brand new, I don't think the legitmation of the sale should be questioned, nor about the date code. The seller provides a picture with his name on it. And it should be common knowledge for now that certain L's don't have a date code, with the most famous example being the 70-200 IS II.

What leather case does it come with?
Sorry it's not leather, I meant to say lens case and not leather case. It's the standard lens case that comes with some Canon lenses illustrated in the first picture in my post.
