1Ds IV with video is not historic, maybe hysteric.

I doubt it would have anything to do with cameras. My guess is that they will announce they are moving their corporate HQ to USA.

Canon did this before, a few years ago. An "historic announcement". Lots of unrevealing web teases. What was announced?

In Sept. 2008 they posted the Moon teaser. It presaged the 5D Mark II announcement about a week later. I think this is what I'm remembering.

If it is in Hollywood, the closest to photography/DSLR announcement they could have is a large format video camera.

Nothing to see here, pretty much

Would be happy to have to come in here and eat crow later though, but the chance is slim.

Historic? Maybe the end of Nikon....

The announcement is for the 1D Mark V, 24-70 F2.8 II and the 5D Mark III.

The historic part from my understanding is the merger of the 1D and 1Ds line. Hence the punch line the story begins.

By announcing both cameras at the same time they'll place a lot of pressure on Nikon to step it up.
