Beautiful Nautilus and attractive background that enhances its mother-of-pearl like colours (great lighting BTW). I'd consider cropping a bit from the sides but otherwise it's perfect.

+1 and I think a vertical view of the shell would be a little stronger as well. Very nice image either way.

I had to look a few times ... that is almost identical to the shell on the wikipedia page for "Spiral."

Much more colorful though

I put some water in the innermost chambers so the photographed better. Bet the Wikipedia version didn't have water.

The image is full-frame and was composed in camera as a vertical, with the negative space a deliberate choice. However, as a vertical it says "Nautilus", but as a horizontal the opening caches the falling eye, guiding it into a spiral path, enunciating the topic, "spiral" - therefore the final choice of landscape orientation.
