I have windows 7 with two 500 g hard drives connected and I tried to backup my computer but it keeps failing , says the main hard drive is fragmented and stops the backup short.
any suggestions on what I should do ?
Thanks randall
What method are you attempting to use to generate the backup? There's a product called Casper that makes a bootable clone. I've been using it for several years; I've tested and verified that I can indeed boot from the clone, and I have my system again exactly as it was when I last ran Casper. No restoring necessary.
Get a bigger hard drive... 1 TB is under $100 now.
My defrag runs every wednesday night at 2 am or whatever... its likely yours does something similar, assuming you leave your computer on. Check the schedule.
Thanks Kakomu It's recommended by my system to backup all files when you purchase a new computer in case it's needed later and this is what I'm attempting to do. Maybe I should just disconnect all my external HD's and then try to do a backup.
Thanks Ernie ,but I wasn't really wanting to buy another piece of software /hardware
