I don't mean to sound cliche here but I am fairly new to the site. I was referred by photogs since I'm tired of dealing with FB used gear groups. My first post was purchasing an 80-200 2.8 lens. A few posts later I sold my D3. I don't have a lot of interaction post wise so my count is very low. Is there a way to become "verified?" I know there is more gear I'm going to be selling and while I can provide my ebay seller name to check feedback I'm wondering if there is another way to make potential buyers more conformable without leaving the site here? Thank you.
Would assume that if you do indeed get scammed like I did recently, that it would be appropriate to report the scammer to you so that he is locked out?? ( I would be curious to know how many times anyone else has been ripped off over the past year for example.)
I know in my case that the scammer started emailing me outside of your website and that when I went to look at his profile, he had already been locked out, which probably should have warned me but I was not real familiar with your site and figured like the PayPal gift thing, he was trying to avoid extra charges from this site?
Great idea. I mostly come here to search the threads and gather information from all of the knowledgeable folks on here. I guess I better start posting and interacting if I ever want to do business here.
I referred my photography classmate to sell her gently used camera gear here. Someone suspected a scam because she was new and has no feedback. I believe the gentleman who reported it posted multiple replies in a wording that's hostile and offensive and almost implied my friend was a criminal.
My friend paid $29 and her account got suspended immediately. I believe the situation can be handled more gracefully.
I am sure my friend has no interest in being part of this forum anymore. @Fred Miranda, could you please refund her the fee she paid? Thank You!
The question I have has to do with commercial sales of equipment. There are more than a few ads by some sellers for multiples of the same BNIB items at deep discounts. Just not sure about the origins of these items. The main concern for me as a buyer is that I don't want to buy something that isn't legitimately acquired by the seller, is actually a non-USA item or is a commercial sale that violates the TOS on FM. If anyone can explain how these kinds of transactions work, that would be helpful.
Off topic, but I also hope one day moderator(s) prohibit using Paypal "Gift" or asking buyers to pay PP fee if regular PP is used ;-).
Asking buyers to pay PP fee (or use PP gift) in B/S board is really annoying to me. Why can't they consider PP fee into their listing prices if they want?
Should we Red-Flag if we see sellers ask buyers to use PP gift or pay for PP fee?
In my book, using PP gift for business transactions is fraud. And sellers should pay for PP fee. Yes, they can asking whatever prices they want.
I have been coming here for years off and on, I didn’t realize this was against the rules. I figured if we were members of buy and sell and created the listing after it would be okay.
