I hate to see a whale and her calf take a wrong turn and swim into the freshwater river, 3 miles from the ocean and refuse to return to the ocean. The calf was seen returning to the ocean to continue the journey to Alaska but the mother has refused. Scientists are keeping a close eye on the whale's condition while trying to guide her back to the ocean but have been unsuccessful. Hopefully she will return on her own very soon. The whale has been stranded since late June 2011.
Carolyn, hopefully the baby will continue the journey. The calf was 18 feet long and according to scientists has a good chance of making the trip to Alaska.
