I like the idea of this one, but with the DOF being so small, its hard to focus on what you want me to see. My eye goes all over the white spot in the middle of the image. Maybe a focus stack or close down a bit? Bokeh and color are wonderful though.
Thanks for your remark, Kevin. You are right, it has a weird sharpness in the back and front but not in the middle, since there is a gap there.
I ought to try focus stacking, I have never done it. It's an older image though, can't repeat it.
here is another one with not so good focus, I like it nevertheless:
again ZF 100/2
My two favorite lenses to use on my Fuji XE1 are a Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58 from 1959 and an A. Schacht Ulm Travenar 135mm f/3.5 from around 1949. Both lenses are in Exakta mount and I have to use an adapter. I rescued these and about 30 other old lenses from being trashed at a photo school.
Tonight I was very tired and drifted off to sleep. I had a dream and in the dream I was going through an old suitcase that had old camera gear, knowing something I would really wat to use was in there.
I woke up and pulled out the suitcase. My grandmother collected cameras and stored them in the suitcase in my dream. Going through the case, not only did I find an original Zeiss lens cap that goes with the lens, but also a complete mint set of Exakta mount extension tubes.
I love shooting with tubes. Nearly all of my best shots have used tubes and now I have some for my favorite lenses. I am so excited to try them out. Once things start to bloom, I guarantee that I will be posting more using this setup. Heck, I think I can even get to 1:1 magnification with the Zeiss!
how exiting, I once found an old wooden camera in the attic, like 30x30x30 cm, a huge box. With glass used instead of film. It is still sitting there, since I don't know how to get it functioning.
Nice of your grandmother to remind you there is something hidden away you can actually use. Awaiting your images...
XE1 with Exakta mount Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 2/58... Found some Exakta mount extension tubes to shoot with. About 60mm worth. Retro style meets old school gear.
Setup is about 1:1. Flower buds are 3mm in length.
