When I was a kid, one (or maybe both) of our cats, dark tigers like the one in your tree, crashed the tree over in the wee hours of the morning with all the ornaments, lights, etc.

These are the two brothers. Originally, they were adopted by a family friend when she was in her late 70s, and they were kittens. My wife and I promised her that if anything happened, they would have a home with us
They didn't get along real well with our original pair, but for you nay sayers out there, both pairs got along with each other, even if the 1st set were NOT releated
Woke up yesterday morning to find Suiki - the tabby - dead. Only 8 years old, and he was the happiest cat I've ever met. Always purring, always wanting a bit of love (used to lay on his back and ask to have his belly rubbed)
Sorry to hear that Charles...Great picture posted of him in memory! May he watch over you from Heaven above...

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, Charles. I do feel your loss. I will give away all my camera gear to save my cat. We have not lost a kitty yet (we are relatively new with cats) but just the thought of losing one is heart-breaking. My wife often tells me that we should have a parrot as a pet as they will probably outlive us. I think that if you have given your cat a very good/happy life you should just be happy with that fact, and you have earned yourself some karma points. Grieving over a lost pet is fine too, but as soon as the grieving period is over, please go save/adopt another cat.
We have, unfortunately, lost 3 cats in less than 3 years. The other two lived LONG happy lives (17 and 19 years 50 weeks) , and faded away at the end. In that way, you knew it was comming, and you got to say goodbye.
Suiki was FINE Monday evening. Came up to the bedroom for his "goodnight" cuddle/scratchs/petting as he usually did, and then went downstairs (as he did maybe 50% of the time) - Woke up Tuesday Morning, and my wife went downstairs saw him in one of his usual spots, and went to give him a good morning pat, and he was gone. By all evidence, he just died in his sleep, so we never got to say goodbye
Fellow cat valets: Go here and scroll down to the bottom for a giggle at a vintage 1955 ad, "You can now take Magazine Cover Pictures of Your Cat". There's plenty of interest on the way down the page.
Great photos of cats in this thread. My wife and I currently have five of the little critters, but have had countless others during our 30+ years of marriage. This one is Daisy, whom we adopted 20 years ago as an abandoned stray on the desert. She's still very healthy and enjoys the morning sun coming through this window.

You must be doing something right. My Coquette didn't quite make 20 (2 weeks shy), He best friend Made it 17 (he was 1.5 years younger, so...)
Now, I was a real bummer before with Suiki passing (still bums me out), but the good news is we have decided that we're going 'kitten adopting' on Saturday, and it has a good chance of being 'plural' kittens, so they play with one another, and Saci can join in or ignore them as he likes, so with LUCK, Sunday, we should have new photos
