I am tending to skipping this meeting. I would love to go down there and spend time, but one day feels a bit rushed, and anyway, with my girlfriend writing her final exams in December and studying like mad, I would not really like to ask her for this extra time. In the spring I would be far more interested.
Hi all, I just want to say that I would have liked to join the meeting and meet you all agein, but neither the weekend (I'm alone with my 5 year old son) nor Dresden and the Bastei (really great idea, Boris; as a coincidence, one weekend later I will spend my fall-holidays a food-walk away from the Bastei anyway...) fits this time for me.
Stefan, we have now the following plan regarding the weekend 22/23:
- saturday afternoon/evening: shooting in the Dresden city center (Zwinger, Semperopera, Frauenkirche, ..), starting around 4 pm
- sunday morning: shooting Bastei at sunrise
- sunday afternoon: maybe shooting Dresden Neustadt (it depends, when Philippe will return to France)
I've already booked at hotel in Dresden. If you would like to join us send me a pm with your phone number and an info when you plan to arrive in Dresden.
So the latest Berlin week-end happened in... Dresden. Thanks to the usual very thorough planning by Boris, the three particpants (Boris-Bobu, Stefan-H Lux and Philippe-Philber) enjoyed many great photographic opportunities, as well as some eccentric moments. Driving at 240km/h at night, shooting a Canon 5D II plus 17 TS/E from a Manfrotto table tripod, drinking the 50 years of German-French friendship....
Pictures will be posted this week-end, so hold the space. But a great note of thanks to Carsten for making these meetings possible, and to Boris for his usual excellent organisation and generous mentoring
It was again a great FM Berlin meeting (although this time not exactly in Berlin).
We shot both in the city of Dresden and at the Bastei.
For a better comparison of the images I would suggest that we post the results in five batches:
1. Zwinger
2. Frauenkirche
3. Elbe/Skyline
4. other Dresden city images (Neustadt etc.)
5. Bastei
Great images from all three of you - thanks for sharing!
@Boris: my favorites are both images in your second set! The rendering of the first one is exceptional - a pity that it is tilted a bit and the 18mm wasn't enough to get the verticals straight. When I visited Dresden two years ago for an afternoon I only had a Zeiss 21 with me and had the same problem with the Frauenkirche. Stefan: did you shot it with your 17mm?
@Philippe: my favorite is the second image in your first set - well done! I prefer it also clearly over the third one. I agree: all images, i.e. the buildings (not the sky) look a bit too dark on my screen.
@Stefan: the second image is stunning! Although... the longer I look at the first one, the more I like it...
Markus, it is possible to shoot the Frauenkirche with 18mm with straight verticals. I even have some images from this weekend with straight verticals, but preferred the composition of the above image.
