It's actually not as difficult as it seems. Here's what I did.
1) Use PhotoShops PhotoMerge feature to import my four pictures. Here's a tutorial on how to use PhotoMerge it's for CS4, but should be similar to CS5

2) Create layer masks for all the layers so that the final picture looks the way I want. Here's a tutorial on how to create alpha channels and use it as a channel mask:

That's it.
