Romain -- I don't think there is an adjustment for a hard stop infinity setting on the Samyang, any more than there are on other brands like Canon, which also rotates beyond infinity.

Thanks for the link. Wow! It looks like the Samyang beats the Zeiss 35/1.4 until f/5.6 where they just about tie, with a slight edge to the Zeiss here and f/8. Then diffraction kills off the Samyang at f/11 and f/16, lowering contrast and sharpness. Still, it is useable throughout its range, but best from f/1.4 - f/5.6, which is where we a fast lens to perform well. I'll continue to keep mine at f/8 and wider, where I've been getting remarkable results.

Just got this lens and so far it's impressive. Love some of the sample shots in this thread!
Here are two test shots from the first day with it:

Dang, it is rather sharp wide open. Near MFD, first set of shots. It's easier to focus than I expected on my 5D2 (thanks again to those who helped me sort my viewfinder adjustment issue).

Might ought to break out the scrubber for the old tea strainer.

Thanks!
She was the only model who would cooperate/put up with me and the new lens. My wife and kids, not so much...

I am not sure if I'll keep mine. I am kind of spending too much time on NEX at the moment. Feel free to PM me.

A few from trips to the Big Sur Coast.
These started out as focus stacking attempts,
but it turned out that the near focus point was good enough for f5.6

Finally got to use Tariq's lens, they're mostly a bit trite but that's an unfortunate consequence of lens testing, taking familiar pictures to make sure it's working right.

I do enjoy the 35/1.4 look. There's some field curvature close up at F1.4 which is something I need to be mindful of..

Unlike the 85, it seems to be much more colorful although I did use a B+W KSM Circ Pol in all of these.

Hope you like it Jae. I found both the color, contrast and even sharpness to be superior to the CY 28 2.8 you had bought from me a while back (and which I bought back and sold on). I shot this lens back to back to my ZF.2 35/2 and the Rokinon was a tiny bit better, particularly in the corners at brighter F-stops and with respect to CA at brighter F-stops. The only thing I did not like abou the Rokinon was the size, particularly the length. Were you surprised by it's size?

Jae - nice set! I like what you've done, esp. with the piano.

Hey Tariq, what I've found is that it's a sharp enough lens at F1.4 and has a softified look to it wide open while still holding enough detail to be very useable. It's also just got a great coating because the colors are surprisingly good and saturated.

I do wish the lens hood was nicer, it actually got knocked out a little bit and ruined some shots. I might look into an aftermarket one.

I do wish it had the cut out on the mount so I can mount a chip on it as well.

It seems I've been back focusing it a bit even on manual focus, it looked in focus in my viewfinder but it shot a bit back.

I have encountered a similar problem with a lot of wider manual lenses, including the ZF.2 35 I have. I used to think that once I saw a sort of high frequency moire pattern through the finder at the point I was trying to focus on, that must be the correct focus point. Alas, it would often end up off a bit. The more I use that particular lens, the better my focus accuracy becomes.

I would normally suspect something like what your describing might be due to focus shift when stopping down but I did not experience that with the Rokinon. You might try stopping down to
f2 when focusing as the lens gains a little contrast and might be actually easier to focus?

Not a bad idea. I've been using it wide open. I am using the M focus screen.

Same here with the screen. I did find the lens somewhat difficult to focus wide open and a few others have mentioned that as well.

In the Canon world people sometimes use shims on the matte to adjust it. Mine (EG-S) was good from start though.

Nice shots JAE, also like the pianos.

Have been too much into the NEX system lately, realize I need to give the 35 on the old 5D2 some air again :-)

Not something that has been an issue though with the Sony FF cameras.
