Finally got around to using the 24-70 ZA. Not a bad lens and quite a lot less vignetting than I was expecting even with the protector filter. I have to say, I like the output. Exceptionally sharp.

Tariq: Love the colour from the Summicron, it looks made for the A900.
The color and contrast of the Summicron 50 + the A900 is one of the best combos I have used. I actually just re-purchased the Summicron 50 as I missed the one I used to own. The lens is damn sharp as well. I really wish the Summicron R 35 had better sharpness all over the frame as I would love to have the exact same quality of the 50 in the 35mm focal length. I guess the E55 R 28 Elmarit is as close as one can get but I really love the 35 focal length.
bad news... my A900 SSM engine is dead. My A900 was sent to sony to fix the both wheels' skipping issue and now the rear wheel is skipping again . I still like the A900 a lot though.

The colour and contrast of this combo really make me wish I could get over the 2D rendering of the R lenses.
Anybody using a 20/2.8, 35/1.4, 85/1.4 Minolta combo? Or Sony, but not Zeiss. I used a 85/1.4 on one body, and 35/1.4 on the other body last weekend and was really happy with it, felt so comfortable. The 85/1.4 has long been my go-to tele, but have lacking width+speed for years now, similarly, my lenses are very mixed-brand at the moment so would like something more condensed that draw similarly, have similar colours/contrast. The 85 + 35 was perfect in that way.
Wondering how the 20/2.8 would fit in there? A lens I've never held or used, yet it seems pretty reasonably priced. The 35/1.4 (Sony) was just a loaner though, so sadly don't have that yet
the 20 doesn't shine in my opinion. barely passible in the centre and low contrast in the corners that makes it kinda muddy. i'm looking to get a samyang 14 once i sell it.
@Jim: Thanks for that, a great shame I thought I was on to a good combo then. I wonder whether you have a bad 20/2.8 though? Opinions do seem to vary quite a bit on that lens...
@xbarcelo: I'm often not a fan of wedding photography either ! but thanks, glad you enjoyed some
