Philipp, I hope your copy is as good as mine. I haven't seen any significant copy variation yet, so the chances are good. It isn't as sharp as a modern Zeiss lens, but quite close, and it is more flexible.

I donīt worry as long as it is sharper than Canon 70-200/4.

Hmm, I thought the Canon 70-200/4 was quite sharp. In that case I would not expect the Contax to be sharper, but it will probably at least be close, and the colours and look will be typically Zeiss, with the boke being a bit smoother than typical Zeiss.
Anil, another great first photo! The centre of that cactus is just radiant. The second shot is also very nice, but the middle of the flower looks a bit gritty (over-sharpened?) and there is some banding in the green in the lower left. Did you push the photo a lot, or shoot in JPG?

Hmmmm, in this case i should better cancel my order and look for a better lens then.
I'm still not getting the DOF right ... or maybe I need to learn focus-stacking. It was dark and I was using wireless flash - commanded by the D7000 on-board flash. Held the flash under the flower so it'd give side-lighting. But, gotta practice more. Thanks for the comments .. helps me a lot.

Why, because it might not be just as sharp as a very sharp lens?
I don't have any experience with the Canon 70-200/4, I have just been told that it is very sharp. If you don't feel that it is, then I am probably wrong. The Contax 80-200/4 is sharp, quite sharp, but not the kind of razor sharpness that some of the new lenses have, but it has a very nice look. Why don't you let it arrive and have a look before dismissing it?

What do you mean exactly when you say "not getting the DOF right"? Not enough?
Here is something a bit different than my recent Tiergarten shots. Also in Tiergarten, but not a flower... Contax 80-200/4:

The Contax 80-200 isnīt fitting 100% for what i want to use it combined with my inability to focus longer lenses i rather donīt get it. I just remembered that i once had a 28-85 and i hated the push-pull design. I also did some research today and there were some negative comments about this lens that gave some insights like that the front element rotates and i thought that the hood is built in like on the 180/2.8.
Maybe Zeiss will release something longer than 100mm or iīll just get a Canon lens (70-200mk2 or 100-400mk2).
Yes, that's true on both counts. There is a Contax rubber hood available on eBay for around 25 Euro, but it isn't built in. The 100-300 is much more expensive, but is also meant to be more impressive. Perhaps that is a better fit for you? What do you need it for anyway?

Too late, the lens is already on the way! I may just have to try it.
Ach, give it a try. Even if it isn't the perfect lens for your intended purpose, you may find some other use for it. It really is a sweet lens, and the push-pull operation doesn't bother me at all.
