Luka...Oh yeah...and your ZF 21 shots above are pretty fantastic too!! I don't have the 21, but I have rented one in the past and really liked it. I do have the 24 1.4ll...I'lll have to get out and shoot it some more!!

Yes, I have the GT1542T, the traveller version, with the Markins Q3T, the "matching" head. I like it very much, it is very light yet decently robust, and it packs quite small. I wouldn't try to use much more than a 180 with it, nor anything very heavy in windy conditions, but if you are a bit careful and don't try to do too much, it is perfect. I still have my big tripod, which I use for anything serious, like the UrbEx I am doing at the moment.
I was a bit disappointed to find out that the shorter column of the old version is no more, and the column is now full-length, meaning that the ballhead sticks out instead of fitting between the legs, in collapsed state. Ultimately it isn't a big deal, it was just a "what the?" moment for me, since I bought exactly this ballhead thinking that it would fit. I would say that if you wanted to combine this head with this tripod, just get the regular Q3, it is slightly nicer at the base....Show more →
Thanks Carsten. I am interested in the GT1542T . RSS BH-30 that is currently on Benro is still totally in good condition, so I will not be getting a new head, just leg for this time round. Which means, regardless, head is going to stick out. Lens wise, longest I have is 200 with 70-200, so the issue to me would be more about stability for long exposure. It probably makes sense to have one big tripod and small one for traveling / hiking. However, it is when I am hiking I tend to want long exposure. Decision decision !
Dcjs , Gregg - Thank you so much for your kind words.
Luka, there is also the GT2542, which is a bit more pricy, a bit heavier, and a bit longer in the collapsed state, but a lot more stable and also noticeably taller. I waffled a lot between the two, but decided in the end that since I had the big one (GT3541XLS), I really didn't need the extra stability in my light tripod.
Filtered tap water, then leave to a sunny day for several hours.
Mude and chlorine smell is gone and hygiene.
How about the chemicals leaching from the plastic bottles, such as phtalates and Bisphenol A? They probably leach into the water more quickly when you leave them in the sun. I think it's wiser to use some glass bottles, if available.
RSSmith - Lover your capture with 28 2.8. I assume it is CY ? I need to train myself to get better result with my CY28.
Your shots proves that it is not the lens I am having trouble with

Carsten, Thanks for the inputs. I was wondering you meant GT2541 ? GT3541XLS looks great, but a bit too heavy for my liking. Also thinking about GT2531. OY ! I am stuck in a mobius strip.

Thanks Akul! My 28 is the C/Y version, on which I put a Leitax EOS mount. It's my first, and so far, only, Zeiss, and I'm seriously thinking of getting another. I really like this lens.

The 28/2.8 is a great one to start with. Your images really display the fingerprint of that lens; very recognizable. This lens also was my first Zeiss (Contax) and now I also have the Makro-Planar 100/2.8 and the Planar 50/1.4. Especially the 100/2.8 is stunning but I like the 50/1.4 a lot too.
