Thanks a bunch, guys! This little camera makes me take more pictures than usual, and will hopefully thus yield more images to show. The EVF is great for precise compositions, as opposed to the ”street stuff” that the camera was sort of intended for.
Martin, obviously the X100 is a good tool, in your case in the hands of a skilled photographer with a great eye for striking compositions. Great work, keep 'em coming!
The key is that the process is very individual for every single picture. I run the files through ACR, where I apply an aggressive curve that looks very different depending on the scene, contrast and DR of the file. I generally use WB close to daylight (~5500 K) regardless of wheather. Auto just takes the right mood away in my opinion.
I also apply some clarity, which enhances local contrast, since that isn't the best part of the lens' qualities.
Martin, thanks for the description of your workflow. I'll have to park my WB for a while. I'm always complaining that I don't live someplace that is interesting but your photos have inspired me to just shut up and go shoot.

I would actually mirror this and actually say that it's kind of made me reflect on whether I use my DSLR's features enough to warrant even keeping it as a platform.

Martin, great shots! I wanted one when it was announced and have held off so far...but you are making me rethink
It makes for a great second body/backup for less than the cost of a 35mm Cron Ryan, well worth considering as while at heart a p&s, one that lets you shoot in a very RF style.
Can add a bit of versatility as well with being able to have a camera you can let a family member shot with, and the liveview and macro abilities, in addition to video.
Certainly not an M of course but does do some things a m9 isn't ideal at such as shooting high ISO and just being a camera you can not worry about so much due to its far lower relative price. I know I'd take a $1200 camera to far more places, trips etc than I would a $10000 camera.
