Had a day and a half to shoot in hollywood with the X100. I understand what eveyones been saying about the camera now. It can be frustrating and rewarding.
I wish Nikon would make one of these (full frame).

Just got mine last week. Been looking at getting one for a while and now that they are cheaper and a few firmware updates down the road I thought the time was right
Still getting used to it, but I'm liking it for when my D700 is too big and obtrusive. IQ, ISO & shooting wide open are all great. Viewfinder is awesome. The only thing I wish you could do is change the focus points with the round dial while looking through the viewfinder (without having to hold the AF button down). AF speed is fine ... I wasn't expecting blistering focus speed.
My intention is to use it for some street shots here in Hong Kong. Took this one the day I bought the camera walking home from work.
Great photos guys ... keep them coming! There is just "something" about the images from this camera. Makes me feel like I am there. I don't even think I can quantify it, but for me, it's a unique viewing experience.
I get my X100 today (I hope - anxiously awaiting UPS) and hope to contribute.
definitely taking my X100 overseas this year, so far no issues with sticky blades and I have not done any firmware updates. reason is I was told you lose auto ISO and I like to use it at times, is this true?
Hi all. I have been following this thread pretty much since the beginning. Amazing stuff here, itīs always a little surprise returning. I decided to share an image I took today with my X100. This image is the last one I took before my X100 developed (all of a sudden) the sticky aperture blade syndrome. It was working fine, I was doing some long exposures @ f/8 - f/11, took this image, and when I tried to take the next image the blades wouldīnt close, they are now stuck at f/2.. :-( I was under the impression that the blades would start malfunctioning gradually, and not just from one shot to the next one...
Hope it will be back soon, I have enjoyed it much and will miss it while itīs being repaired.
Hi again. Surprisingly my X100 decided to come back to life yesterday and operated flawlessly all day. I managed to pull a couple more images from it but now I am at al lost regarding what to do: shall I wait until the problem happens again or shall I just take it in now? I am concerned that the Fuji guys wonīt be able to replicate the issue and just send it back as is. Is the SAB issue an intermitent one? I thought once the blades were stuck they were so for good...
A couple images from my (resurrected) X100 yesterday:
In fact, you can now access auto ISO via the ISO tab, no more needing to go to two different places.
In addition you can also now assign the RAW button to a custom function, the ND filter is a quick one press on/off toggle, and the overall AF system works much better.
It was a HUGE improvement overall for the camera.

Love your images Photon-hunter! Did you use an extra ND filter? Almost look like daylight 10 stop ND exposures.
I sold my X100, but found myself missing it too much even with the quirks.
Dang - a cheap Black Edition X100 pops up for sale near me - can't wait to receive it one of the following days! And with all I read about the 1.21 firmware it even seems like its going to be even better that before :-)
Thanks for the kind words. The X100 is certainly one of those (rare) cameras that grows on you despite itīs limitations. I always loved it, and it has done nothing but improve with every firmware update. Still quirky and frustrating at times, but a lovely and pretty unique camera nonetheless...
Regarding the exposure on my pics, I use a 20 stop BW neutral density filter on broad daylight to achieve 15-30 minute exposures. I find that the 10 stop filter (even when combined with the internal 3 stop ND filter) doesnīt give me enough filtration to get the desired exposures on very sunny days..
