a few from recent wedding i shot .. used it some during setup and also had my assistant up in the balcony with the X100 to get some overhead shots. worked out well
Though there are not many items listed in the firmware update, I'm seeing a very noticeable improvement in AF speed and accuracy, particularly at closer distances and in very low light. Impressive that a firmware update could make such a difference.

There was a time that I almost bailed on the X100.......the 1.11 firmware shows that Fuji is still trying.........and I am glad I kept it. The difference is noticeable.

I suppose it makes sense though. The AF hardware, the sensors and connection to the processor, would be in place. After that it is all about interpreting and reacting to changes in readout values.
Quick question on the custom settings. Is it always on a custom setting even if you don't select one? When I select custom setting 2 it always seems to revert back to custom setting 1 when I turn the camera off. I guess if I use custom setting 2 more often I can just switch the two.
Just picked one up off of B/S - looking forward to contributing here again.
I was around during the early alt craze with the original 5D, now I just don't want to take it out anymore - looking forward to the small size and 35mm.
Thats what they have been reporting over at X100 enthusiast, mostly in close focusing distance.
I have applied the update but have not had a chance to test it yet.
The firmware has not been out very long but even just shooting around my dim office last night at ISO 1600 F2, the AF is much more accurate and quick to lock on. Less to no hunting makes it faster. Before the update, I felt the AF could not really be trusted too much at closer distances so I always used the MF/ AFL trick. That may not be as necessary anymore. AF mode will still not lock onto anything closer than about 2.5 ft without going into Macro mode so one advantage of the MF/AFL trick is that it works at any distance, including the min. focus distance. I do think the AF is more sensitive now. That said, low contrast objects will always be an issue with any contrast detect type AF system.
I actually really miss this camera.. and some are coming on the used market now the nex7 is on the way.. I'm considering what to do.. nex7 and 24 or get another one of these and save a lot of money.. heh..
I'm all over the place but the one thing I can say is I really liked the output.. the downside however, for me, was that I found af quite pokey... though faster than the leica x1... not as fast as the gf1
The used surge of used market models I think are going to start getting snatched up again pretty quickly due to NEX7 delays. I think at least some of the people selling the X100 were doing so as they expected to get a NEX7 soon, now that it could be months away, they are either going to hang onto them, or those who where going to pick NEX7 over the X100 maybe now be thinking of picking up a X100 again, at least for a few months and maybe even longer.
Basically if one wants a compact body with decent VF and decent high ISO performance X100 is still really the best choice for a few more months its sounding like
I'm not sure I could recommend buying a used X100 since the warranty is non-transferable. Should someone with a used x100 have the misfortune of requiring repair for something like the sticky aperture issue, you might be looking at a $700 bill! Until Fuji makes some sort of statement to the effect of "any x100 which develops a problem with the aperture will be fixed regardless of warranty status", I would only buy an x100 new.
