p.3 #1 · Help me with my transition from AlienBees to ??

well i got what i wanted from this thread ... and then some lol. thanks everyone for their inputs. fast syncing was only a hope and a plus, because its not the main reason why im lookng to upgrade.

for those who cares, i decided to go with the rx line. couple 600's and some d-lite-it's for little help here and there, coupled with a couple vagabond minis. i could sell my whole AB stuff in one day, so it was a good investment after-all.

Ditto...congrats on the new gear and enjoy. Feel free to post a comparison after you've lived w/ them for a while to help others.
Grab the D.O...it's one of the best bang for buck modifiers in the Elinchrom line.

Excellent choice, congratulations. I hope you got the El-Skyports also. Let me suggest when or if you have the funds that you add at least one 90 degree umbrella reflector and the 21cm reflector and gel holder. With that combo you are set for an umbrella, or grids, or gels, etc.

Congrats on the purchase and enjoy your new choice of modifiers

Gregg, as for the Skyports... I'm not sure they're the best choice when he's looking to max out his sync speed.
The Skyport RX modules do not have Speed mode so he'd have to go with the fairly slow normal mode.

Ah, you're right, I was just thinking of wireless control in general.

I know. The D-Lites only have triggering capability and no control anyway, so the OP should probably stick to what he's currently using for wireless triggering and save the cost of the RX modules.

It's a bummer.

I asked them about updated RX modules for Speed mode at Photokina last year and they said it's not possible due to the RX parts inside the lights.
But we'll likely see an update to the RX line (possibly Ranger first as they did show the new head already) so it's on the horizon.
