I read you title Preening and saw Noelle, I was looking for a Preening Noelle
Such elegant beauty in these birds with the breeding coloring. Details abound when properly exposed as you demonstrate here. So you have a very pleasing to the eye image to enjoy. There is a faint trail of diagonal water ripples fore of the Egret that seems to really work well in the comp. I can feel a very slight breeze in this image.....ahhhh
Nice tones and composition Noelle. Sharp where it should be, and not where it shouldn't be. Like Troy, I don't think it would be hurt by slight cropping. Lots of nice images being posted tonight, and this is another very good one.
Beautifully captured Noelle. I struggle with this type of shot where the body is facing the opposite of the head - I never know where to put the "extra" space. For me, there is too much space on the right, but the burd is excellent ~ Ron

Graceful preening
I would crop in more.
Thanks Troy,
Sometimes I like to include the environment in my images. Everything does not need to be crammed in the frame. As you can see by using the rule of thirds this image is composed properly. With that said, the rules can always be changed to your liking.
