I have a Nice Gitzo GT1840C Travel Tripod that does not reverse fold back over the head. It is Basalt Fiber instead of Carbon Fiber (which means little at the size it is) and has both G-Lock and ALR twist lock features. It is very tight and is very smooth and quick to set up and take down. It is not a full size tripod, probably more like a 3/4 size, but it also folds very small and is very light - and holds quite a load.
Also included is a matching (as to specs) Benro B1 ballhead that is solid yet small and light in keeping with the legs. The legs and head together weigh about 3 lbs 7 oz (legs 2 lbs 9 oz and head 14 oz).
I really like it as I shoot with a Canon 70D (that has a flip out LCD back) and it is perfect for it - even though I am 6’3”. It is easy to carry in conjunction with shoulder or waist bags, and when I use one of my backpacks (Think Tank and Mindshift) it doesn’t extend above or below the pack when carried externally.
The specs (legs only) are: 15.4 lbs load, 2.6 lbs weight, 44.7” max height (without head), 6.3” min height (with special built in low level head feature), and 16.9” folded. It has 4 sections with twist locks. The non-reversing legs are a benefit, in my opinion (I use a lot of tripods) in that they set up / take down faster and don’t weaken the leg/head joint as much. The head adds 3.8” to the tripod height (48.5”).
I like to improve photo gear (with my own industrial sewing machine), and added cloth (Bike handlebar) wraps around the upper legs, which both protects the material and makes the legs much easier to grab. I wish Gitzo did this on all their tripods. I like the skinnier legs (no foam grips) on their tripods, but these cloth grips are easy to grab and add no thickness - and are easily removed, if you prefer.
I also added a handy shoulder carry strap that lets you carry the tripod very securely and efficiently over either shoulder. I have these straps on any tripods I use outdoors, and carry them on the opposite shoulder from whatever bag (or waistpack) I am using. The strap folds into a very small roll when not in used. Also included is a storage sleeve made of a unique padded cloth that fits the tripod and head perfectly. When not in use it rolls up small enough to put in a jacket pocket.
I’m only selling it as I have multiple tripods and really don’t need this one any more. It can be checked out and/or picked up during the day. I have recently seen a new version of the tripod legs sell for $450 and a used one for $350 on the big auction site.
Shipping will be by Priority Mail (to the continental US only) and payment by PayPal gift or fee. I don’t mind using the gift option as FM membership creates an “among friends” ambiance. If regular PayPal is preferred, please add 3%.
Final details can be worked out via PM, which I prefer because of the way my email program handles the regular ones without date/time info. I'm retired and around home most of the time, and will respond to most PM's promptly.
