Over the years I\'ve known more then a few people who\'ve had the Series 1 70-210 f3.5 by Kiron (Kino Precision).I\'m don\'t recall any of them having the mechanism jam on them,however a few had to be reminded to set the zoom at 210mm which is the required setting to either engage or disengage the macro setting.What Kino Precision was known for was quality optical engineering and build.Below is the PDF instruction manual for the lens.
For what it\'s worth...I have quite a few Nikkor/EOS adapters including the Fotodiox standard and pro versions which have seen considerable use...and I must say that though there may be a slight movement,no lens have ever fallen off using Fotodiox adapters.I also have the Fotodiox C/Y to EOS adapters,I personally haven\'t experienced any problems focusing to infinity with these adapters as reported elsewhere.
Left to right the prefered versions of the Vivitar Series 1 zooms...24-48,35-85,28-90, and the first three 70-210\'s,Tokina 2nd version,Komine 3rd version,Kiron 1st version
Other Vivitars worth collecting are the Macros 105/f2.8 & 55/f2.8 as well as the close focus 135/f2.8,70-150/f3.8,75-205/f3.8,100-300/f5 (not pictured here,my daughter is borrowing it)the lens in the corner is the close focus 85-205/f3.8 (I recommend the 75-205/f3.8 rather then this version).
A few other Vivitars worth collecting are the TX interchangable mount lens which are shown on the top shelf.The bottom shelf are more Vivitar lenses and the preferred Kiron lenses.Also shown are the T-2 mount Tokina built 800mm and the 600mm
The Vivitar 120-600 is also worth collecting and shoots not to bad digitally.
