p.1 #1 · Oregon Morning Fog

This past summer. The original image with poles and lines and one without, edited in CS5, Content-Aware. Thanks for looking.

Wonderful morning foggy light here, Bob. Very cool shot.
I would take the trouble to clone out the poles and wires here, though. Should be pretty easy.

Hi Jim & Barry,

Many thanks for your most welcome kind comments and suggestions and I am glad you like the image.

I did remove the power poles and lines with CS5 Content-Aware in another image of the same, which also works.

Hey Bob,

I do agree with Barry that the power poles take away from this. How about posting that image where you removed them? I think it would really strengthen the shot.

Hi Jim,

Added the pole-less image.

Almost there Bob, I still see the bottom half of the middle pole.

Nice shot none the less.

I like the version with "less" poles. I think it would benefit from a bit more time to fully remove the poles and wires. Image is worth the effort.

Content aware is an odd tool that removes things differently everytime you use it. A few extras swipes seems to be needed most times.

Great light and shadows casted here.

It certainly does work better without the poles.

(File under: There is no right or wrong.)

If this was my own shot, I'd probably really hate doing it on a visual level, because it does work so much better without them, but I feel that I'd choose to leave the poles in. I use an internal guide for cloning out things and maintaining scenic authenticity by using what I call the "client drive-by factor" and the "fingernail factors" when selling a print.

Great scene w/o the poles. Still, a very good scene even with the poles left in.

Either is very nice, Bob, though I do prefer the second. That early morning light - wow.

Nice one Bob - I definitely prefer the pole-less version myself. That one keeps my attention much longer and lets me savor the beauty of the scene. The poles and lines just seem to jump out and distract me in the first version.

Nice work.

I much prefer it with the poles. I think cropping up from the bottom to just after the ditch would work better, also. I find intrigue with the poles there, as you see just a tad of the road and the poles guide you thru the fog. without the poles, the right side feels quite empty. just my .02

Hi Alan, Charles, Rob & mco_970,

Thanks very much for your most welcome and kind comments and glad you like the images, with qualifications.

It was a warm June morning in the hills west of the Wilamette Valley, Oregon. The sunrise the same morning was quite colorful, will post later.

Nice job on this, Bob. Cloning out the poles and lines make it perfect.

I hope you don't mind, but this thread got me to thinking, and so I've referenced it in my current blog post.
