I'm planning to view the next shuttle launch from Space View Park in Titusville. It's a night launch, and I have a Canon 30D and an EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS that I plan to use.
Does anyone have suggestions for a starting point with ISO/shuttle/aperture settings? Having never done this before I have no idea where to start.
This was shot at 320th f8 and 320 iso on a mk3 with a 400 DO. Your 30D might not have 320 iso though. you might not have this same view from that location. I'm waiting to here if I can get to the next launch as well. This was shot at the cape at their Banana Creek location about 3.5 miles away. You cant get any closer unless you know someone and then you can only set up a sound trigger remote. so 3.5 miles is the closest. There is another viewing spot a tad further but the plume comes at you, but the shuttle view after lift off is from the top where you see both solid rockets and the shuttle back, but you need to wait to shoot until she clears the smoke.
