p.1 #1 · The Stub Plug

came upon this little darling. i won't say where but it is an item well worth its price in saved space.
its very simple canon on their smaller battery chargers makes the plug so that it unfolds out of the body. that saves space. now nikon makes a nice charger that supports the D700,D90, D300 and so on. it comes with a 6ft extension cord. now thats real nice too if your socket is behind a couch. but for the most part in hotel rooms and other locations you can generally come up with a open wall socket. the stub plug makes you nikon charger and a few other brands into a wallwart type and basically halves your bulk.

Interesting. Thanks for posting it. I just ordered one to try out.
I see they're being sold by Keoni Ahlo, an FMer.

Great. I've been looking for something like that for a long time. It should also work with the small MAHA charger and other figure 8 devices.

Hey Steven,

Thanks for the plug (NO PUN INTENDED! :-) I'm glad you like 'em. It's been a long project for such a seemingly simple item! Too bad I didn't get these out a lot earlier (as in, before the holiday season--lots of other stuff going on (surf season and all). I have a few other very useful products coming out soon, hopefully mid-next year.

FYI, I flip mine around backwards plugged in to the adapter to store in my bag since the receptacle on the AC adapter is closer to the base that the top. This way, it takes up about 3/8" less space in my bag. If you look at your AC adapter, you'll see what I mean. I had another design that would fold flat, but it cost quite a bit more. I think sometimes simplicity is the best route.

As far as the Stub Plug goes, I hope to get these suckers into the hands of Scott Kelby and Thom Hogan...maybe even McNally. We'll see!

For Ishootsports3: What sync cord are you referring to? Maybe I can look into it.

Aloha,
Keoni

Great product Keoni, I'm thinking I may have to order one as I rarely carry my charger due to the size of the cable.

id love some sync cords that are more like 6 inches long, i find that the foot long pw ones are ok but i dont need the length so having to deal with it is just annoying
just some nice simple short cord that get it done without having that extra that loops and is just annoying enough to be noteworthy

Skyvan: Thanks, that's why I started on this quest to make my (our) life easier. I'd like to build a custom bag someday as well, as I have dozens of drawings that I think would work well for most shooters.

Ishootsports3: Ah, I know exactly what you mean...and without the coiled wire would suit me fine too! I'll look into that. There was somebody doing that before the newer cables came out...I think it was related to a flash bracket company.

Aloha,
Keoni

he ships to Canada. i do advise at minimum the 3 pack. it nice to have spares and you'll probably find something else it will work with too. i'm trying to come up with "The Island 6 Pack" pricing as a product sizing so well known to many.

Hey gang,

I initially set Paypal to accept foreign payments, but ran into a shipping snag when I tried to ship out an order to Canada. In fact, the lines were so long that I had to get back to work. I am learning more about the cost associated with Canadian shipping and trying to figure it out before I open it back up to Canada. I have received a couple inquiries from individuals requesting to be international distributors and I am researching that. Ultimately, I'd love to have B&H and/or Adorama sell these for me, as they have a great distribution network going that would make it easier for me to fulfill orders in a timely manner. I may also hit up Amazon.com.

Thanks for all you support during this growing phase!

Aloha,
Keoni

I'd love to join you in that business...it would be a fun project to work on, getting bags and stuff made, super high quality custom designed bags. If you're serious hit me up via PM.

Just did the same ordered the 5 pack. Gotta support the FM'ers! I once ordered a couple cords that were just a foot long which works nice but it would be one less cord to have to pack in the long run.

Hey FMers!

Thanks for all the support on my new product. I'd love to do a promo just for FMers, since they are really the best group of folks I've met online. Seriously. But I understand that I'm not supposed to promote stuff here in the forums, so I'll see if I can find out what I need to do to offer you all some kind of deal.

Also, I'm looking into shipping directly to Canada, however, it's quite pricey. For you Canadians, is this something you folks are used to? I mean, it's 3-5 times the price to ship these little buggers to Canada! I also need to look into any duty fees that I might have to pay--if there are any experts on the matter here, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks again, all.

Aloha,
Keoni

Hi Keoni,
I just received a 28mm f2.8 lens from a gentleman is the USA (MA I think) and the price via regular USPS mail was just over $5. Is it because you are in Hawaii, that it is soo expensive to ship to Canada ? I would have no problem with $5 for shipping if thats what it turned out to be to Canada. USPS regular mail would be the way to go (but there may be some risk for you, since I don't believe there is a tracking number or insurance....)
