p.1 #1 · Jetty in the wind

It was blowing a gale this day. I like the clouds

What do you think. Could I do anything to make it better...

Both are good. I, too, like the first. Notice how, in both shots, the lines lead the eye? Good photography engages the eye that way. well done.

Hi Marli,

Both shots have the horizon in the center half of the picture - was this purposeful?
For the first shot, I would like to see more of the sky and less of the ground/sand, since the sky is the more important feature in this picture.

For the second picture, the horizon at the halfway-mark composition does work for this picture. I like this picture - The dark clouds above give a sense of heavy compression onto the light, which I think works well here. If you could include a foreground figure (say a sailing boat sihouette or something) I think it may help to 3D-ize the image and give it more depth too.

Best regards,
Wenyao

Marli,

Love the first one. It does have some conflict between foreground and background. The pier seems to be holding up the distant objects. Getting closer, or moving up the beach to change the perspective might help?

I too think the 1st one is outstanding. This is why I love to shoot wide angle...I get the feeling that the clouds overhead are just flying past me...super!

The first one is so... I have not words. Simplicity and elegance. Extraordinary image.

thapamd what about lighting, I was looking at your photos in your gallery post and they have something extra.... Maybe its location, but I think it is more... How do you get that impact, ie it looks just like you are there, perfectly sharp etc..

Obviously practice and skill have a lot to do with it, and maybe to a small extent equipment..
