It's a clone of the superp, phenomenal Kiron 105 f/2.8 macro. Goes 1:1 life size without any adapters, filters, etc. Very sharp and very well built. They were made by Kiron (Kino Precision Industries) for Vivitar. You will also want to search under the "Lester Dine" name. The Lester Dine's are rebadged (Dine is a dental supply outfit) Kiron 105 macros. VERY good lens! If you do a Google, Photo.net search, or cruise through the Kiron Klub files, you'll find numerous reviews and pics made with it.

I can't speak from experience on the CA with modern DSLR's. But, quite a few of my DSLR buddies have abandoned their Nikon 105macro VR lenses in favor of the Kiron 105 macro.

The CA on my Series 1 Vivitar 105/2.5 at f/2.5 and 1:1 was very significant and most annoying. Since I like to use my lenses wide open I decided not to convert it from the Minolta MD mount to Eos but to sell it instead. One or two stops down it was hardly a problem though.

I heard, take this as you will, that the older macro lenses do have a lot of CA on modern DSLRs.
My Series-1 105/"2.5" does have significant blue/yellow defocus CA, plus some blue longitudinal CA on the focal plane. This sort of CA does drop off steadily as a lens is stopped down, and the lens is otherwise very sharp.

Are you inquiring about the 90/2.5, or the 105/2.8 series 1? There is no 100/2.5.
I noticed that there is a 90/2.8 in the OM mount. Can anybody comment on the difference between the OM mount version and the 90/2.5 ... are they the same lenses optically (aperture difference noted) or two different animals althogether?

The Vivitar Series 1, 90mm f/2.5 was made by Tokina, for Vivitar, per, their specs. It's a VERY good lens. If you find one, be sure to get the matching 2x converter that belongs to it.
