Folks,
Looking for input on Sigma for Less as a seller. Am considering purchasing a 150mm macro for a Canon 40d since their price is ~ 80 less than other reputable folks like b+h.
I'll never deal with them again. They did a bait and switch on me, wouldn't honor their published price, tried to charge extra for the warranty.. Pure garbage...
Go to Canoga cameras in CA for great prices, service, and no lies...
i bought from S4L before no problems what so ever, i bought at bh as well before and i got a box that looked opened with the flap that you open bent in a careless way by whoever was opening the box leaving a crease. i would never buy from bh before quite frankly i dont even know why everyone gives them such high reviews.
I bought a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 from S4L when they were very new. No problems - it was an imported model as they'd clearly mentioned. No phone calls, nothing. I've also bought thousands of $ worth of items from B&H ... with no hassles for the most part. S4L has since grown and I don't know if they're better or worse now.
Be careful of gray-market glass, not only from sigma4less (a Tamron lens), but also from dealers like Cameta Camera (a Sigma lens). I got burned once by Cameta (thru eBay) and got stuck with the lens, and once returned a gray-market lens to sigma4less. in both cases, a USA warranty was promised, and in both cases a call to Tamron/Sigma told me I'd be out in the cold if warranty service was required. That was early in my "career", and I learned my lesson since then.
I've bought from S4L when they are significantly cheaper than B&H, no problems with either. S4L took a return for a soft Sigma 28/1.8 with no questions asked.
I'd take a look at Abes of Maine and buydig/beach camera which both offer fast free shipping and generally better deals (specifically for those in NY). You could also save an additional $10 from Abes of Maine with the coupon code 'Loyalty10' at check out. The Sigma 150 is $605 flat at Abes (vs. $619 @ B&H).
Bought a 150 Sigma from them. On time delivery. Nice on the phone. No hassle. Lens is spot on in every way with the serial no. removed. They charge more for shipping. I dont deal with them anymore because of the serial no. thing. Wow what a lens though!!!!! Bruce
