I sure would like to hear your thought about BIF's.

also, did you use focus points other then center?

Great looking statics shots.

Yeah that's my bad. I tried and tried to get a BIF shot but none of them were flying lol and I had too take off...Try again in the morn before work.
But #5 the last one I used the outer AF point - al servo and it's a heavy crop.

Did you have any issues prior to getting the recall fix done?
No dot, Blur dot, Yellow dot?

Looks great!

I am confident that I'm getting sharper more in focus shots now, but I want to do more action BIF shots first. My MKIII is a yellow dot.

Especially when I do 100% crops like I did here. I think its better now.

Interesting indeed.
Mine is a "No dot"...early serial number.
Had the sub-mirror fix done then the mirror box assembly replaced in Feb 09.
Though I am generally happy with it, I'm not entirely convinced of its performance in AI servo mode, though I have to admit I suck at tracking anything!

Might as well send it in I gues...

Focus looks great. Like the first two shots the best. Good luck with the camera.

Looks good. Looks like you pushed the contrast a bit much in photoshop. Would love to see straight out of the box images if you don't mint. Maybe some consecutive shots to show it's reliability. Thanks for sharing and from my monitor looks promising.

To be honest, those shots don't really tax the AF system. Looking forward to some BIF results.

Did the camera came back with all the microadjustments set back to zero?

If that's the case, were your test shots made with zero microadjustments, or did you dial in what you had calibrated for that lens before you sent it in?

Thanks.

+1

In addition, do you see any improvement between now and before the recent fix?

Here are a few BIF shot I shot today after getting my MKIII back from Canon. All were taken using a 300mm 2.8 IS in AI Servo mode with ROF.
