The only thing that i wish my G9 had that the G10 has is a wider angle lens (i'll buy the WA lens for the G) and the ability to view RAW files from the G9 in DPP. I am baffled as to why canon did this. Aren't all Canon RAW files CR2? Anyone know why DPP doesnt support G9 RAW fiiles? such a PITA to use various CANON software to view the RAW files. DPP is superior to Zoom browser (or whatever the program is)...
Also, i like how consumers/companies are so hung up on MPs. Seriously, a P&S doesnt need more than 8MPs. I mean a handful of P&S's have RAW, and how many people that have P&S's enlarge larger than 8x10? Most people who enlarge big use DSLRs.
I was worried becausei just bought a G9. I will not be upgrading:)
I have a WA converter for the G9, but really don't use it--its heavy (and I have the Raynox smaller version) and largish. I also don't use DPP now--rather Lightroom and G9 files open nicely in LR.
However, all that being said---I really don't like to shoot with the G9 because of the LCD--though the pretty usable onscreen histo is quite nice--but do like its handling otherwise). For better or worse, I like a usable VF (and I've tried 2 external ones, but they are limiting) and I want the ability to shoot low light with higher ISO. So--I bought a used 400D and shoot with a 17-35 f/2.8-4 zoom and add my 50 f/1.4. This works as my 'small' cam (as opposed to my 5D)--and the 400D with either a 15 FE or 28 f/1.8 is quite small and light.
I know I won't upgrade to a 10---or even any other P & S in the future (and I know I don't want 14.5 MP).. The only one that has really interested me is the Sigma DP1---but its too limiting right now, so I'll bide my time.
