p.1 #1 · With "FIXED Mark3" lots of pict...

I picked up my "Blue Dot" M3 on Friday, the weather finally broke this morning.

I took over 400+ shots, and only trashed around 25-30 because of OOF problems (mostly my problem, out of center), HUGE improvement.

All shots with the M3 & 500mm and some with the 1.4x on. All shots were taken using AI servo, including the static shots (I wanted to test this)

C&C is always appreciated

Superb! Incredible colors in the first few; wonderful detail in flight. I can't wait to get mine fixed.

Great shots on 1 & 2!! Nice detail and love the colors. I too have a Mark III having some AISERVO issues and am waiting for jury to return on the latest fix. I didn't jump on board for the first couple of software updates and haven't jumped on board for the latest fix either until I know it's a GO GO GO. Sounds like It's a go though from all the blue dot hub bub.

Wondering > Did you purchase a blue dot or did you send your III in for repair??

I've seen a lot of posts from purchasers of the new blue dot version but have not heard of anyone receiving their Mark III back from repair as of yet................ Clue me in

I was lucky enough to get mine exchanged for a blue dot one. I too thought it was unfair that the people buying new M3 got the good ones while we stand by waiting to get ours fixed, I contacted my dealer and they hooked me up.

Thanks for the comments guys!

When that first image loaded, I nearly fell off my chair! Incredible colour and detail in there.

Hope the blue dot version continues to live up to the camera it's meant to be. Enjoy

Chad, These are excellent images, wouldn't expect anything else from you and the MKIII. I am really glad for you that you now have a working MKIII.

Cheers

Yes, I shoot RAW 99% of the time, most all post processing was done in Capture one 3.7.7, I can't wait for 3.7.8 to come with full M3 support, I don't like the new Capture 4 myself.

I did very little in CS3 photoshop other than some minor levels adjustments and cropping.

Thanks for the time to comment.

Very nice indeed. Would you mind sharing your camera settings? I just picked up a 500 F4 and need some advice on selecting the F stop.

Thanks

Those are great shots. It seems the camera is working well. Can you tell us what the temperature was when you took these pictures. One cause of the focusing problem was temperature (heat).

Sweet! 4 - 7 of the Mallard flight is really nice. The lighting is incredible. Those shots have that "5D" magical look to them. Gotta luv it.

Hi Chad,

These look really great. I especially like the first two. I also checked a bit of your site and enjoyed those shots as well.

I am waiting to get my MkIII repaired, but wondering just what a "blue dot" is. Are those previously owned by someone, or non-sold cameras pulled from dealers shelves and repaired or what? TIA.

Thanks for the nice things said, that is a great compliment coming from you...

I'm about 99% positive the Blue dots are the ones pulled and fixed, Brand new cameras. Mine looked brand spankin' new. you know how you can tell the moment you open it...

Keep up the great work JJ

Temp was cool, 40 degrees Fahrenheit or so, but the temperature thing was not the only time I had trouble, it was pretty much all the time, like one guy had mention even on gray cloudy days.

Thanks Mark. I guess I'm not familiar with the "5D" magical look, but it must be just like the "Mark3" magical look
