300 euro rebate? that is quite a bit of money off. A lot more than the usual rebates of around 100 ponds (150 euro), I wonder whether this has something to do with the announcements about new products round that time

This price drop is quite significant, and I wonder if the price in the US will follow...
Today a 5D in Europe can be bought for 2500 eur, which is aprox 3000USD. So both markets have the same price point.
With the cashback the new price in Europe will be 2200eur. If the US follows the price drop, that would mean a reduced price of aprox 2600USD...

I wonder if any other Canon products will take part in the promotion I certainly wouldn't mind a cashback on, say, the 70-200 f/2.8L IS, or the 135 f/2L...

A simple whois on onlinerebates.com leads to a company called "Continental Promotion Group", with their website at http://www.cpginc.com telling us that they are "one-stop resource for successful consumer, retail, and B2B promotion management and fulfillment". Makes sense, since it was said Canon are not doing all the paperwork themselves.
uh oh! if the 300 euro rebate is transfered to Switzerland at a reasonable exchange rate, this would mean 450 of our francs, which would bring down the price of this beauty close to 3200 - that's less than 2500 USD
