In order to properly answer this, the intended purpose for the kit should be addressed. If money is no object:
For sports.
70-200 2.8
135f2(very good indoor lense if you cant use flash.I use it for volleyball)
24-70(works great under basket, best with strobes)
400 2.8. Pretty much the outdoor standard.
Portraits.

Walkabout,when weight is a concern.

70-200

Some of these I own and some I don't. I love them all, using my 50mm the least. The 135 and the 400 are kinda magical, but the 400 is VERY expensive and out of the reach of most people. If you are shooting night sports without flash..i.e.football, the IS comes in very handy. I don't use the IS on my 70-200mm very often since I invested in strobes, but did before; on the original 1D, it was a HUGE drain on the battery.
With only 2 L series lenses....
10-22 3.5 EF-S (Sorry, need something wide and non-L)
24-70 2.8L
85 1.8
70-200 2.8L IS
My dream bag would contain....
16-35 2.8L
24-70 2.8L
70-200 2.8L IS
300 2.8L
As you can tell, I like L zooms, but then again, it's only a dream and then I'd be in the poor house.....
