Does anyone have experience using this combination? The canon 70-200l f4 with a 500D. If so could you share some photos. I am looking to purchase this combination in the next few days and would really appreciate some feedback. Thanks in advance.

Here's one taken recently. No Photoshop editing.

I use 500D with its big brother (70-200IS) and works very good. I also have 77-72 step down ring and use it on 135 / 85, too, and the bokeh are exellent. If you plan on using it on other lens, make sure to buy the largest one such as 77mm instead of 67mm.

I usually use the 500D with the 100-400 IS instead. With the 70-200 F4, it's a perfectly usable combo, but if you have the IS version, it's even better.

Hey, I haven't seen one of your posts (with your URL) in a long time, what a cool URL...and I've used some of your street shots via browser to show friends the "type" of street PJ photography you like to do...cheers!

I'm also looking to use a 500D + 70-200 2.8 IS for my pawnshop work. I found that the borrowed 50macro was too close to my http://www.clouddome.com/specs/tent1.htm Cloud Cube or my Cloud Dome for pawnshop. I rented a 100macro (I recommend renting lenses OFTEN before buying, no kidding) and it didn't have QUITE the distance I wanted either (1.6 crop). I'm upgrading body-wise shortly, one of the mk2's, and either way, I lose more working distance.

This in combination of wanting less lenses to tote around, less $'s spent, I'm gonna try it, I've seen many "good enough" images using the combo...and, my main macro usage is pawn shop type stuff.

G.
