Sorry if this has been gone over before, but I'm looking for a good lens in this range. I'm strickly amateur, so I'm not looking at L glass stuff, but I would like something in the $200-$300 range if possible.
I would appreciate everybody's thoughts, recommendations, experiences, etc.
I have the 28-105 lens, It is a ok walkabout lens depending on the camera you've got?
I only use it on my film camera though as the 28mm on a digital 1.6 crop is just not that useful.
Proberly woulden't recomend one of those cheap 28-200 lenses as they go soft quickly throughout the zoom range!
The 28-105 3.5-4.5 II USM makes an excellent walkaround lens, light and well made, it is sharp with excellent colour rendition (there are reviews showing it is slightly sharper than the 28-135 IS, and it's a lot smaller and lighter).
I bought one recently and it's taken over from my Tamron 28-75 2.8 as my favourite walkaround / portrait lens.
