What would a Canon D30 be worth?

It comes with the body, cap, software, battery-generic, charger-generic. No strap or other items, strap, cables, manual, etc.

It came out of a newspaper. It comes with a 7 day return for a full refund.

I looked at one of the cameras and it looks clean but used. No idea regarding number of actuations.

thanks
ron

That was a good deal you got for a complete one.

To the OP:

I have seen cheaper ones with replacement single charger.
In acquiring the D30 and/or D60, make sure you have a way to power the dummy battery for sensor cleaning, like the dual charger.

I sold my D30 last December for $475. It was in mint condition with about 3500 actuations. It included all original items (in box) and a 1GB microdrive and card reader.

eBay had a good deal last month on a D30 with all included accessories in box for $360.

Any used camera with 5000-6000 actuations should last for enough time to justify spending the $$$.

If you wait another 3-4 months - let the new Rebel 350 get into circulation when a lot of the D30 and D60 owners will get the "Canon Urge" to upgrade, I am sure the market will be flooded with the D's for a cheaper price.

If you have to buy a camera right away, might as well spend $150 more and get the D60 for around $550. It is a significant upgrade from the D30 and quite a robust camera that holds up to the 10D or the Rebel.

Regards

Not much! A few hundred dollars at most.

I saw one on ebay Australia the other day sell for $700AU with 3 lenses, bag, tripod and some acessories!

With the 350D/XT on the way, expect the 300D second hand prices to come down soon. So I would say at this moment around 400$ for a good copy is a realistic price and they will sink a bit more when the 350D/XT becomes available in larger supplies, pulling down the second hand camera prices further. Keep in mind that if the shutter is at the end of it's life cycle, a shutter replacement will cost you about 300$. That is imo the biggest risk when buying a few years old digital SLR. Keep in mind the first D30 have often been in the hands of professionals and semi-pro's as this was the first affordable D-SLR at about 3000$ Still the D30 is a very nice attractive camera and a good beginnerstool in D-SLR photography.

There's an old saying, if you never sell something, you lose nothing on depreciation.

$400 would be great for a D30 in mint condition, low actuations.

Honestly, there was something special about the D30's images that I've only been able to find in a few other cameras since. (Then again, there was purple, or lack there of.)

It doesn't make sense to sell the D30 anymore; I'm just keeping mine. Someday somehow it'll end up in a museum where it'll fetch the $3000 that it cost when it was first released in 2000

Or just convert it to be IR-only.

$3000? Heck by the time its worth that much, inflation would have brought $3000 down so much that you could probably only buy a candy bar.
