Some more "mushrooms" from the Queensland rainforests.
All the fungi shots posted so far were taken with a Canon T90 and a Tokina 90mm Macro.

Well done! both are great, #1 with it's curves, #2 for how light reflects from it. Thanks for sharing!

The first is possibly Coriolus versicolor. The second looks like a Cortinarius, though an id is hard from the photo. They are lovely specimens. Good pictures too.

Arhi, Leif & Andrew, Many thanks for your comments. I'm afraid I haven't the patience to identify all the fungi I have photographed, so I don't try. Finding a reliable book is not easy in a place where people who spend time in the forest chasing fugi are considered to be about 80 cents in the dollar.
I hope to post many more Andrew however I need to sort out an upload problem. I had to try to load about 10 images overall to get these two to stick.

I believe the second one definitely is a Cortinarius. Besides that possible fact, the picture itself is simply beautiful ! I wish all mushroom identification books had pictures like THAT !

Thanks George glad you like them.

Andrew, I had a quick look at the link, will go back and spend time there later, looks to be a Fungi junkies paradise. ( Figuratively speaking of course.)

This was my first posting to the macro board.

If #2 is indeed a Cortinarius; it is not edible. Although it will not cause you to vomit, or to have "the runs", and it won't poison you outright (like some Amanitas), a toxin is built up in the body (over time) that can cause organ failure. A no-no for sure !

Thank you George, Be assured that I am one very particular little Vegemite when it come to eating "mushrooms" After many years roaming the Australian bush with rifle, miners pick and lately cameras I have formed an opinion that most things that look good enough to eat...... ain't, and very colourful things, definitely ain't.:o)) Many thanks for your identification.
