I like the effect of the rocks sitting on cloud tops. The lighting and color are beautiful.

Cheers,

Will

The second shot is wonderful. I like the way the water seems to be circling around the partially submerged rock. The sky is also nicely captured.

In the first image I am not sure what that box is that is sitting on the rock, but it sure does kill the image for me.

id crop #1 because the sky/skyline looks a bit shotty..and takes away from that awesome structure that is just chilling there.. where is this?

The second picture looks "unearthly" but is very beautiful. Could we know what shutter speed was used for these shots, or was any other form of post-processing done to obtain this beautiful swirl? I could never seem to get such nice swirls or texture in my water shots...

Thanks,
Wenyao

It is not often that I respond to requests for criticism, but these images really reflect the most original concept that I have seen on this board in months. This why:
1. the colors are right on the spot, i.e. you picked the right time of day and the right weather for this subject
2. the way the images are build meet all artistic standards norms, yet they are original
3. they look technically perfect

A quick comment on the building in image 1: To my mind it should be there; if you would cover the building on your monitor, what is left is less interesting and appealing. I don't want to know what the building is, b/c that would diminish the image. I absolutely like how the light plays on the interior wand of the building.

The images remind me of the work of David Fokos (see for example http://www.johnclearygallery.com/artists/fokos/fokos.html), and you may want to have a look at his work if you want to further explore the artistic effect of slow shutter speeds.

Hope this helps!

Thanks,

Mark

I think both shots are excellent. I really like this photographic effect and plan to experiment with it myself next time I get near an ocean. Thanks for posting.

Fantastic, for all the reasons already stated. Maybe you could give us some more details on the setup? Thanks!
