For you guys who offer prints of your pictures, how do you handle requests for different sized (i.e. crop ratio) prints from your customers? For example, if my original image is in 3:2 format, it is sometimes impossible for me to make it fit/crop it out into a 8x10 format. What would you do when you encountered such a situation?
If someone is paying you ahead of time, you can plan for that and give them what they want. But I've yet to see anyone offering prints for sale where the customer can arbitrarily specify the print ratios. Decide what you want to offer (and what works for a given shot) and go with it.
People usually purchase standard sizes which means 11x14,8x10, 5x7,etc. If you're shooting portraits it would make sense to shoot to fit those standard sizes or else you need to border the image to fit to the size or offer custom framing.
