p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · 1DX2 LCD screen colour way off?

New owner of the 1DX mark 2 here. Anyone else think the colours on the back of the screen look NOTHING like the image appears on a calibrated computer screen?? Has like a yellow/green cast. Actual image colours are true, just the preview on the screen on the back of the camera way off. Makes it very difficult to get your white balance right on the fly. Anyone know of a fix? Cheers

You could do a search on this forum. There is a topic about just that issue on page 1 or 2.

Yes it has a very warm cast with a magenta/green tinge. Hopefully can be remedied in next firmware upgrade?

Repeat after me: Camera LCD screens are not calibrated, you can not judge color temperature on them!

I really hope so, it's terrible. Really surprised there's not more people complaining about it

The 1DX was very close and close enough to give a fair representation and use as a reliable guide. The 1DXII nowhere near it

Workaround: If you only shoot RAW, what if you'd create a custom picture style with appropriate colour tone adjustment, so that the images on the LCD look closer to the actual files on your computer? Has anyone tried that? Setting the picture style doesn't affect the RAWs. The color tone setting sets a bias to yellowish (+) or reddish (-).

I heard that they are working on a firmware update and give option to use same cooler setting as original 1dx - should be finished before Olympics...

Hope you're right mate. I think snappers will be up in arms if it's not more accurate come olympics

Yep that would be a workaround for studio work, no good for shooting sport though. Cheers

shoot in raw; set picture style to B&W

No color distraction; better focus on the composition of your image
