They may be releasing something new to fight Nikon, and listing it as d/c may drive people to buy the current stock that stores have.
I'm not sure, it does seem like an awfully short life cycle, but (and please don't take this as I'm knocking the 6D, as I think it's a very nice camera) don't the "lower end" cameras reach the end of their life cycle faster than the "upper" end?
The 6D was outdated when released. Great camera that holds very little stability in the used market. It's missing many key features compared to the competition like more AF points, dual cards. Still a good camera but $1200 is about the price it should be.

I knock my 6D's all the time... "Stupid camera", I say. Why can't you be more like my 1DX!
Then I use my 1DX and say, "Stupid camera! Why can't you read my mind better?".
Possible error as a 5D4 and Rebel seems more logical for next in line. But then perhaps the 6D is in the profit/consumer demand sweet-spot and Canon means to keep it there. The 5D series is a smaller market.
Grab the AF/DPAF and articulated touch screen from the 70D and the 6D becomes a bit more usable; given Canon's incremental upgrade mentality of reusing existing newer tech; which I'm fine with me
Amazon UK is the only place that claims the 6D is discontinued, and yet they don't have the 7D2 available for pre-order. Something tells me there's something a little wonky with their camera department.

Then so was the D600... also missing things that the competition has
