Adorama appears to have the Canon 200-400mm available on their webpage. The pre order is taken down. It is too late for me to order one but somebody might like to know that is looking. 7/24/2013

That could be the first sign that the 200-400L sales gravy train is slowing down, and give it a few more months and it will reach a stalling speed, unless they start reducing the zoom price, that is.
It says 'backordered' now, not that I have the cash to make a move on this lens. Perhaps some of my fellow Canadians procured their second or third copy of the lens when it became available momentarily.
It's a roaring deal, though, to get a $699 case free with the lens purchase.
Gary Farber at Hunt's had told me for the past few weeks that his Canon Rep has a end of the month date for supply. So it could be soon for orders to be filled.

Not quite true - there is some fine print on the product page, "Please Note! This Item is on the way to our warehouse and is expected in a few days." I saw this LAST WEEK and PLACED MY ORDER. A "few days" has stretched to over a week. I think this is on the edge of disingenuous on Adorama's part.
Edit - I have to retract this statement - my lens showed up today, a week after I placed the order. Thanks Adorama.

Par for the course. My biggest ongoing issue with Adorama. Fictitious items showing as in-stock when in fact, they are not. They can't afford real time inventory but can afford to have their rep lurk this forum.
