p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Three from today

Hello,

I had a great time with a couple of bugs that I managed to find, one a spider, one a fly and one that has me wondering. The one bug that I am wondering about is the first photo posted. Am I correct in thinking that this is one of the beginning stages of a moth? If anyone knows if it is in fact a moth I would love to know what it is.

I hope some bugs start popping up in your part of the world.

Thanks for looking,

All C&C welcome

Lovely captures Julian.
Agree #1 is a bit tricky - it may be a moth but it would have to be an adult - some are flightless.

Thanks Brian. I didn't that there were some moths that don't fly.

In a few moth species the female is flightless but this species goes further:

Some examples where the females lack wings:

The lack of prominent mouthparts is because they don't feed as adults.

Thanks Denis and DeVil.

Thank you very much for the information Harold. The moth that I photographed definitely looks to be a flightless female of some kind.

Thanks, Douglas. But over here we are having some odd weather; it's 20 F here and we're supposed to get snow tonight!

Nice shallow DOF in the first and the second I like the dark BG especially with that spider.

Thanks, Tyler. These were all taken at f/18 by accident.
