I have the Yashica ML 50mm f/2 lens and love the great images it produces. Would like something faster though looking at a Yashica Auto Yashinon DX 50mm f/1.4. Anyone know how this will compare to the ML series? I am worried as I read some bad things about the DSB series so I am avoiding it.

Yes, I love my Yashica 50/2 ML but all the faster 1.4 Yashica's I have seen are DX models and I can't find any info on them.
Wasn't the DX an earlier model? I'm not sure that I would consider it at all, but I don't know for sure, and I've never used it.
The ML 50/1.4 is fairly common, IMHO. I see it on fBay (fungusBay) quite a bit. However I would suggest the Contax 50/1.4 over the ML any day of the week, if it's within your budget.
The above where from about a week ago with the ML 50/1.4, all shot at F1.4. Purple fringing is quite strong, too strong, and is much better at F2. These are not sharpness tests, all shot at ISO400 and at a slowish shutter speed (approx 1/40th).
Someone in this forum (I think it was Piotr_p) compared the ML 50/1.4 to the Contax 50/1.4 about a year ago and found them to be very similar. The Yashica was even slightly sharper wide open. I think the Contax had the edge in color rendition and perhaps bokeh.
