p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · I found new use for my macro

I haven't used my 100 macro lens for a long time, even toyed the idea of selling it, mainly for the inconvenience of setting it up on a tripod and focusing rail. But I decided to give it a different spin, namely open up the aperture and shoot it handheld. The result? I have to say it is quite different from many other macro shots you see. This has opened up a whole new world for me. I feel like I am not merely documenting something, but really looking at a different world not possible with our own eyes. Here I post a couple of images, hope you like them. For more pictures like this, go here http://lindenphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/146735/1

WONDERFUL!!!
In my opinion, this is the essence of photography as art. Seeing things in a new light.
#2 is stunning.

You have found the beauty of this lens Grass Hopper.
I loved the gallery. I need to get back to my 100mm real soon.

BenW and RFMSports, glad you like them. Thanks for the kind comments.

Ron, I liked your stacking two images, one in focus and one out of focus. I have taken some pictures like that (with tripod, of course), but I have not played with PS enough to figure it out yet. some day, I will do it.

jclark58, thanks for the beautiful images, here are some of mine using a similar lens - Rodenstock 75mm f/1.1. For more, see http://lindenphoto.smugmug.com/gallery/108681

Wow! These files really put compression to the test...I'm getting "dish network" style vignetting and color-aliasing on them...awesome!

(What I mean is that they have exceeded the gamut of that JPEG setting and that's really rare...beautiful soft continuous tones...)

losloslos, here is a couple of more just for you (with 100 macro). I know they are a bit soft, that's the way I like it though. I am not too concerned to bring everything in sharp focus.

Ermm.. are you viewing the pictures with your monitor color depth set to 32bpp? If you are using 15/16bpp then you will get all those "dish network" effect and color-aliasing...
