Hi,

I think it is time to get this one back in the game, as "Bifurcator" has done with the Nikkor glass.

So, lets see your stuff, from 7.5mm to 1200mm, because I know they are all out there, somewhere!

Titmouse on 7D with FD 300mm f2.8 L and 2X-B TC (EOS modified by me).

Regards,

Edd

I love that shot Ed.

Nice shot Jim. Ya know, I should check that FD 50 I have. I never did check to see if it was L or not. Hmmph.

Jim,

Beautiful example of the work you do on the FD-to-EOS conversions. Looking forward to seeing more!

Aaron: the 50mm f1.8 is not an L lens...sorry.

Edd

I've got to figure out image upload on FM. I've got some really great stuff coming from my FD400 2.8 L on my 1D4. May be my favorite lens now, and I have many fine lenses. -Ed Mika

Also, roboticspro, I picked up an FD 300 2.8l locally and I have it focusing to infinity using the EdMika 0.75mm EF-FD adapter and minor reversible optical element recalibration. Search YouTube for EdMika for the instructional video on how to do this.

I dug it out right away and saw that. I didn't think it was, oh well. Gave me another reason to hold it and wonder what to do with it.

Canon FD 28mm f2 S.S.C. It's already modified to EOS mount when I bought it.
What makes me suspicious is it's very light as if some parts was not made from metal. Well, it's good for traveling though
And I wonder that it doesn’t hit my 5D2 mirror at infinity.

PP is just resizing and sharpening.

All shots are at f/2.

At wide open / shallow DOF shots, the bokeh is rather harsh (has pronounced ring) if the background is very busy. Stop down to f2.8 or f4 and it looks more pleasing

#2 at f/2

#3 at f/2.8

#4 at f/4

I embedded the 100% crop to show the sharpness

Fantastic shot sebboh! as always.
By the way I am very curious about the FL 55 f1.2. What is the main character difference with the FD 55 f1.2 SSC (I got one) ? The FD 55/1.2 has a more pronounced bokeh ring compared to Nikon 50/1.2 that makes it's bokeh a bit harsher in some condition.

Wow,

Really off to a great start...

Jman13: Beautiful images; the young girl and flower are wonderful...

sebboh: Stunning...period.

Nixland: Glenn, great to see you posting here!

A favorite oldie of mine purchased by me in the early 70's, then converted to EOS as one my winter "snowed-in" projects...the FD 35mm f2.8 Tilt-Shift.

Keep the images coming!

Ed Mika: Good to see you here also! Your adapter is making inroads on eBay sales; long glass is really moving fast now...

thanks, and sorry for the late reply - i've been out for a few days.

i've heard from a few people that the FD 55/1.2 SSC is identical optically to the FL 55/1.2 so the difference really comes down to coatings (obviously the FD is better) and mount (the FL is much easier to convert). i'm not sure what the people who told me the designs were identical were basing that off of, could just have been lens diagrams for all i know. i've only ever shot with the FL and it has some pretty hard bokeh rings itself wide open.

No problem.
Thanks for the info.
I asked that because some said FL's bokeh is creamier than the FD So I guess maybe the FL has completely rendering than the FD.

if so the FD must be really uncreamy, because that is the last word i would use to describe the FL's bokeh. maybe i'm more critical of bokeh than most, but when i shoot the FL wide open it's because i don't want cream. if you shoot something at mfd at f/1.2 with a distant background you can get a creamy look i guess. look at the crow shot i posted, that is wide open (same for the driving shot and flower shot) and it is not the smoothest of bokehs even with the distant background.

Woww ... I am drolling for the 24/1.4

I wonder what is the difference between the FD 50/1.2 SSC, FD 50L and the 55/1.2 SSC in term of sharpness and bokeh.

I want to try the FD 85L too. Maybe someday if I buy the NEX.
By the way in what distance does the 85L hit the 5D mirror?
Any difference in sharpness and bokeh compared to the EF 85L II ?

I see.
Below is the sample of the bokeh of my FD 55/1.2 compared to Pentax K 50/1.2.
Pentax's bokeh is more creamy. But FD is sharper.

Now I wonder about the FD 50/1.2 ...

#1 FD 55/1.2 SSC

#2 Pentax K
