My respect for B&H\'s decisions doesn\'t come from an inherent respect of religion (I\'m not religious), but from a respect for a private company\'s right to set its schedule as it sees fit. In my experience, B&H has always demonstrated itself to be honorable, and it seems petty to give them a hard time over this.
The sum total of what they\'re doing is saying that they choose not to conduct business during the holidays. They\'re not declaring a holy days sale, and dedicating all their profits from this week to \"X\' charity or political cause; they\'re not proselytizing; they\'re not holding special hours for fellow believers; they\'re not running a faith-based photo school using public resources; they\'re not offering special believer-only discounts. They\'re not doing any number of things which might be understandably seen as offensive.
They\'re just shutting down their store so they and their observant employees can follow their own religious traditions. That\'s it.
